Brow lift, also known as eyebrow lift or forehead lift, is a surgical intervention designed to correct the lowered position of the eyebrows and reduce the appearance of a tired or frowning look.

The procedure restores a brighter, more rested, and younger appearance to the face, without altering natural expressiveness.

When is brow lift recommended?

Brow lift is indicated for patients who present:

  • Drooping or asymmetrical eyebrows
  • Excess skin at the level of the forehead
  • Deep forehead wrinkles
  • A permanent tired or frowning appearance
  • Pressure on the upper eyelids caused by the low position of the eyebrows

Types of techniques used

1. Endoscopic lift

Endoscopic lift is a minimally invasive technique and consists of small incisions hidden in the scalp, with almost imperceptible scars.

Recovery is easy and fast.

2. Classic forehead lift

This technique is indicated in cases with significant excess skin and allows a more extensive correction.

The incision is placed at the hairline or in the scalp.

3. Temporal, lateral lift

This is a more limited procedure that lifts the outer part of the eyebrow and subtly corrects the tail of the eyebrow, with a natural effect.

Associated procedures

In some cases, brow lift can be associated with blepharoplasty for a complete result of the periocular region.

How the procedure is performed

The intervention is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, depending on the complexity.

The average duration of the procedure is 1 to 2 hours.

Recovery

After the intervention, temporary adverse side effects may appear, such as:

  • Swelling and bruising at the level of the forehead and eyelids
  • A feeling of tension or slight numbness
  • Temporary sensitivity at the level of the scalp

Most patients resume social activities within 10 to 14 days.

Intense physical activities should be avoided for approximately 4 weeks.

The final result becomes visible as the inflammation completely decreases, over a few weeks.

Possible risks

As with any surgical intervention, minimal risks may exist, such as:

  • Prolonged swelling
  • Asymmetry
  • Temporary sensitivity changes
  • Visible scarring, rarely
